I am in the middle of reading this book–without romance, but with a lot of platonic friendships. It’s different, to not look at the book and wait for/predict so-and-so to pair up and just get it on. Nope, not in this book.
No romance. It’s not being sold as a romance. It’s being sold as a fantasy.
Now, I don’t read straight-up fantasy – George R. R. Martin soured me on the genre because I hated too many of the Game of Thrones characters.
So I’m reading this book and want to try my hand again at fantasy. But without romance? A strong platonic friendship that develops over time? I’d need a plot if romance is not the plot.
I will read more of this book to see how the author does it.
